It’s funny how much music interests can change for any given person over the span of a lifetime.
I remember when I was heavy into rap and hip hop years back, when I heard instrumentals they just sounded like half songs, like they were missing something. For some reason I always thought a song needed lyrics. I still feel that way about certain tracks sometimes.
Today, I find that more than half of my music library consists of said “half songs” and ironically, I find they are fuller and carry more meaning than most of the music I hear when I am out and about or from friends. (sorry guys)
Humbly on a quest to keep our ears satisfied, artist mbe can do both. Here are two of his more recent tracks that I am equally obsessed with:
BUT! my favourite mbe track for the past few months has been ‘praying for you‘ which is available to you for free by clicking here. Take a listen below, it’s dope af.
Something about a woman’s voice, paired with the sound of an electric guitar just does my soul right.
Over the past four years I have been listening to almost solely music of electronic nature, therefore it is super refreshing to hear bands doing what we refer to as, “crossover” where they integrate sounds from different genres of music into something totally their own…(for now at least).
Satellite Empire has an Indie Rock vibe with lots of electronic notes that help create a beautiful audial landscape to accompany the feels delivered by their emotionally driven lyrics. Self genre-lized as Melodic Dubstep/Metalcore on their Facebook, Satellite Empire definitely inspires something much different than any other artists in my music library (which I am slowly but surely building via Spotify).
Their 2016 EP ‘Thrones‘ has been a mainstay for me over the last few months and I can’t seem to get enough of the last song on the short-but-heartfelt album appropriately entitled, Thrones. Enjoy the fantastic sound of Satellite Empire below, and thanks for reading, much love!

Future beats are cool ‘n all…but when the weekend hits, I wanna get my trap on.
There are more trap songs and artists nowadays than there are days in a year, and their similarities can be a bit dulling to the senses. So when I come across good trap music, it’s like finding the house that gives out the full-sized candy bars on Halloween…(best analogy I could think of).
Blake Skowron has been up to no good…(and I mean that in the best way) making dirty, dance-worthy beats and collaborating with some of the best producers in trap music and future bass today. Artists like: William Crooks, Creepa, graves, and KRANE. And if you pay attention to trap music at all, then you’ve probably already heard of Blake.
But enough talking about it his music, just press play and enjoy.
Happy Saturday ya’ll. Be safe out there, and thanks for reading. Much love.

As if I needed another reason to visit Australia… the big island definitely has an affinity for producing a shit load of good musicians.
Top artists like; Flume, WhatSoNot, Tame Impala, Alison Wonderland, & Hermitude (just to name a few) are all exports of The Great down unda’.
Hier (hi-er) is my new favourite import to my music library. When I get bored and go back to my archives for music I always enjoy, he is one of the first artists I go to. Light, airy, bouncy, full of break downs and bass, Hiers‘ music sounds like what I like to imagine living in a desert paradise might be like…

There is a list I keep…
A list full of names of musicians who one day, I would like to do a write up/feature on.
“Timing is everything” as they say.
I don’t like to force something that isn’t really there, or worse; write when the words just won’t flow. I’m sure the same goes for any artists out there who are struggling to produce something of substance.
DROELOE doesn’t seem to be having any shortage of flow however…
The duo has been slowly churning out hits since I first heard them with up and coming trap star Holly on their addictive track ‘Allday’:
Every song they have put out since has been unique and fluid, and it doesn’t seem like they’re slowing down at all given they’ve released yet another amazing track with super producer San Holo just yesterday.
I must say, it is truly a pleasure to the ears to listen to the bitbird boys and I can’t wait to hear what they come up with next.
Enjoy the latest and greatest from them below, and if you dig it, it’s available for free thru TONEDEN here. Thanks for reading, bless.
Just a moment with you. (repeat 2x)
I woke up everyday last week with those five words resounding in my head…press play on this future bass delight by artist Kaivon, and I’ll bet the same thing will happen to you.
(if you like it, hit up Artist Engine and get it for free.)
It’s not always about finding the wettest behind-the-ear, up-and-coming 16 yr-old artist…sometimes there are producers that came out way back when and just so happen to still be killin’ it. (see; KASKADE, Flume, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, etc…)
One of those DJs for me is Seven Lions.
And with 3.65M followers on Soundcloud alone, he sure isn’t hurting for any more blog coverage. Doesn’t bother me any, because he just released yet another beautiful track showcasing that classic bass-heavy, dreamscapy glitch sound that I can only ever seem to find from a few people that’s done so well.
One of the first artists to get me into genres like dubstep and trance, I will always have a soft spot in my heart and ears for his tunes.
Some artists are just like a fine wine ya’ know? Enjoy his newest single and one of his best remixes below. Thanks for reading.
