ft. AIRWAV

I just went on a downloading spree via this week’s “new” artist, AIRWAV.
“New” because he is not new to my SoundCloud feed, but recently stood out with his addictive EP, ‘VIVID‘ (that has since been on repeat, and when it stops I usually re-listen to ‘the void’ & ‘thinkin bout u’). Something about this 5-track EP just make me feel…good. Isn’t that why we listen to music in the first place?

The Daruma artist has quite the array of sounds to choose from, but they all stay true to the futuristic “genre” (I know, I suck) that we all know and love so much. From dirty down low bass with the likes of DIGITAL ETHOS (who may just need his own feature soon)  or upbeat trap vibes with The South East Grind affiliate Enschway, he has something that is sure to delight everyone’s own personal airwaves.

Still waiting on a West Coast tour to experience this DJ Producer live, and I’m sure it won’t be long before I get the chance to headbob/bang to the lively sounds of the NY based AIRWAV. Until that day, I will enjoy his music stored in my iTunes library, downloaded completely for free via the man himself. Now how sweet is that?

Enjoy VIVID below, or click here to stream via Spotify. Thanks for reading, much love!

ft. mbe

It’s funny how much music interests can change for any given person over the span of a lifetime.

I remember when I was heavy into rap and hip hop years back, when I heard instrumentals they just sounded like half songs, like they were missing something. For some reason I always thought a song needed lyrics. I still feel that way about certain tracks sometimes.
Today, I find that more than half of my music library consists of said “half songs” and ironically, I find they are fuller and carry more meaning than most of the music I hear when I am out and about or from friends. (sorry guys)

Humbly on a quest to keep our ears satisfied, artist mbe can do both. Here are two of his more recent tracks that I am equally obsessed with:

BUT! my favourite mbe track for the past few months has been ‘praying for you‘ which is available to you for free by clicking here. Take a listen below, it’s dope af.

ft. blake skowron

Future beats are cool ‘n all…but when the weekend hits, I wanna get my trap on.

There are more trap songs and artists nowadays than there are days in a year, and their similarities can be a bit dulling to the senses. So when I come across good trap music, it’s like finding the house that gives out the full-sized candy bars on Halloween…(best analogy I could think of).

Blake Skowron has been up to no good…(and I mean that in the best way) making dirty, dance-worthy beats and collaborating with some of the best producers in trap music and future bass today. Artists like: William Crooks, Creepa, graves, and KRANE. And if you pay attention to trap music at all, then you’ve probably already heard of Blake.

But enough talking about it his music, just press play and enjoy.
Happy Saturday ya’ll. Be safe out there, and thanks for reading. Much love.

ft. Moderat

Bonobo. Thom Yorke. RÜFÜS DU SOL.

I don’t prefer to make comparisons, especially in regards to music or art (because nobody should ever be put in a box). However, they work in order to organize things a bit.

Moderat;
Comprised of solo projects Modeselektor and Apparat, Berlin-based band Moderat have a discography that dates back to the early 2000s and they seem to be getting better and better only with time.

I made a huge mistake not seeing them at Lightning In A Bottle last year, and all I can say is, if I ever get the opportunity to right that wrong, I’d take it in a heartbeat.

If you listen to any one thing I try to shove down your earbuds this year, let it be this…

Probably one of the best bands you’ve never heard of. Their album ‘III‘ is flawless start to finish. Enjoy their art below!

ft: N i G H T S

Right then. Right when you’ve exhausted the 29th trap instrumental, or the 9th #future song being reposted in your Soundcloud feed (all of which sound the same). Right when you’ve listened to the same build/drop again and again in every poor rendition of already established artist ripoffs you can tolerate, that’s when it happens…

That New-New.

That new song, that new artist.
That new found soundbyte that is just 4 minutes full of whatever je ne sais quoi it is about it that makes you go, 🙌🏽 🙌🏽.

That’s what happened to me about a week ago when I stumbled across the silky smooth sounds of ‘N i G H T S‘.
Think early Craig David; suave/pop vocals…meets bounce, plus bass. And a little something extra I can’t quite put my finger on…so I just downloaded their songs (for free) instead 🙃.
Here are my top tracks from the up and coming duo:

Thanks for reading, stay gold.

ft. ARDENCY

ARDENCY.jpg

‘Ardent’–adjective;
1. having, expressive of, or characterized by intense feeling; passionate; fervent:an ardent vow; ardent love. 2. vehement; fierce. 3. burning, fiery, or hot: the ardent core of a star“.

Appropriate, I think.
Yes, it is cheesy to define words and artist names, but words are all we have… wouldn’t you agree?
Words mean a lot to me (or at least I think they do).But sometimes, words fall short. Ever feel something you literally couldn’t describe?
Some people have the incredible capability of conveying their emotions via sound and other electromagnetic waves~

Apply the definition of Ardency to their most recent EP ‘For You, Only‘, and I would gather that these guys feel some type of way about the music they put out.

Personally I have been a fan of Ardency since I first heard their unforgettable 2 track EP: ‘Gradience’. Two plus years later, they are crossing over genres and creating a niche for themselves betwixt edm goers and indie fans alike. Now, with an even more defined sound that spans a multitude of decades, one would find it nearly impossible to try and fit them in any kind of box.

And that’s that shit we do like.
Thanks for reading, enjoy.

ft. palmingo

Our first artist feature in 2017 is someone whom you’ve probably never heard of before.

(you’re welcome hipsters)

Jeremy Stern AKA palmingo hails from the foggy San Francisco Bay Area, and although he isn’t currently touring as of yet–it will probably be just a matter of time before the public picks up on the saucey sounds on his new and latest EP, ‘Birds Of Paradise‘.

A fan of artists such as: Flume, Mr. Carmack, Sam Gellaitry, and What So Not; his first concert ever was Foo Fighters back in the 6th grade.
Soundcloud lurker since 2011, he is now heating up your Home Stream with #wavy tracks like, ‘What So New‘ & ‘Timeless’ (track No.1 on the playlist below).

His goals in this lifetime are, “to see the Northern Lights, and help the world in some way.” What a nice dude…and to top it off, he’s made his EP available HERE, for free. Now that’s just hella cool.
