ft: N i G H T S

Right then. Right when you’ve exhausted the 29th trap instrumental, or the 9th #future song being reposted in your Soundcloud feed (all of which sound the same). Right when you’ve listened to the same build/drop again and again in every poor rendition of already established artist ripoffs you can tolerate, that’s when it happens…

That New-New.

That new song, that new artist.
That new found soundbyte that is just 4 minutes full of whatever je ne sais quoi it is about it that makes you go, 🙌🏽 🙌🏽.

That’s what happened to me about a week ago when I stumbled across the silky smooth sounds of ‘N i G H T S‘.
Think early Craig David; suave/pop vocals…meets bounce, plus bass. And a little something extra I can’t quite put my finger on…so I just downloaded their songs (for free) instead 🙃.
Here are my top tracks from the up and coming duo:

Thanks for reading, stay gold.

ft. 2016

Holy shit you guys…it’s almost over.

Typically I don’t really remember ‘years‘ for what happened in them or whatever…I can hardly remember what I ate 48 hours ago (probably something with potatoes though).

2016 was an emotional shit storm for yours truly.
A year filled with a rise in my anxiety on a daily basis, and me questioning everyone and everything coming and going from my social circle to the people I saw on the streets.
I’m usually distracted by the changes and “fresh starts” that a New Year tantalizes us with, but this December I just feel happy to be going into the next 365 days with all my limbs and wits about me…

Something I have always been fairly decent or been consistent with is maintaining a playlist of sorts, and around one year ago today I started keeping a log of the songs I have deemed “Best of 2016” entitled, ‘3016’.

So here it is; a cool playlist for your hopeful NYE get together, or any ready-to-get-lit-fest you may have going on this weekend.
These are all songs that either stood out amongst the rest or have been on heavy repeat, getting me through the life-sized obstacle course that was the past year of my life.

From the bottom of my heart to yours, enjoy.

Future Fridaze Vol. 010

This week has been an introspective one to say the least…it is really incredible how everyday seems to be “the same” at times, but then you remember to look over your shoulder, and holy **** ToTo we’re not in Kansas anymore!

Music is the best at that, constantly changing and striving for the unthinkable.
Those are the artists I am currently focused on, because I don’t know if you were all aware, but the songs we are currently listening to are becoming the soundtracks of our lives…let’s make sure it’s a good playlist huh?

Have a safe & lovely weekend guys, enjoy some lighthearted, and heavy tunes this long weekend.

I’m pretty sure this image of Eazy-E wasn’t taken by smith. –listen below 🔥– however, his track is bass-heavy and also free to download via TONEDEN<3 right here, so we’re gonna honor this picture of one of the baddest motherfuckers to grace this beautiful planet earth. Peace~

Introducing… Future Fridaze

This marks the Official 1st –of many more to come– #FutureFridaze.
(we have an overwhelming feeling that this may become everyone’s new favourite dotw..)
A slightly shorter playlist than last week (but we like that)
It is virtually impossible to really hear all the music that exists the way each song was intended to be heard.
A couple personal favs below are by artists: Notaker, 2047, sheltr, brothel.PACIFIXX, Gersh & Bear and ZEKE BEATS.
Carefully curated with you in mind, enjoy ❤

Trap Tunesday…

Yes, this is yet another day of the week we are attaching a playlist to…you’re welcome.
But who doesn’t like Trap??

(that’s a serious question btw)

Not gonna lie, I think everyone is getting a little sick of your run-of-the-mill “trap” songs that are sadly blasted by anyone who is stoked on NGHTMRE (who is basically the next generations’ RL tbh)

So we went ahead and procured a little playlist that’s sure to get your squad #turnt on a Tuesday. Just listen to the first track by william crooks… 🔥 trust us, this isn’t your sister’s trap playlist.

We recommend hitting shuffle (gotta do it in soundcloud) and hanging out with your homies. (but tracks 1, 4, 12 & 18 <333) Oh, and shout out to The South East Grind for steadily filling our likes & playlists with awesome music.

ft. SHOP JEEN <3

Playas Gon’ Play
The hit maker
The playas gon’ play
Them haters gonna hate
Them callers gonna call
Them ballers gonna ball
(Let ’em know)
I, I don’t mind (ha)
What people say or do (nah, nah)
But I, I do mind
What you believe is true
You are the only one
Getting all my love
Cuz what they do (what they do)
Ain’t nothin’ new
– Playas, they gonna play
And haters, they gonna hate
Ballers, they gonna ball
Shot callers, they gonna call
That ain’t got nothin’ to do
With me and you
That’s the way it is
That’s the way it is
So-called friends
Don’t wanna see me with you
Behind your back
Callin’ my cell and pager too
No matter what they do
I will stay true
Only to you
Only to you
I want you to know (I want you to know)
I’ll never let you go (I’ll never let you go)
We gotta…

ft. Autograf

If “Tropical House” was worthy of being a stand alone category of music, Autograf from Chicago are heating things up all over both coasts and everything in between.
Inspiring others to leave their own autographs in space and time, the trio and live instrumentalists have killed it both times I’ve gotten to see them live.
And I got a super cool t-shirt from their last show at The Casbah here in San Diego.

Follow the band for tour updates here.

Thankfully they did all the hard work for us and compiled their hits into this silky smooth playlist below. And if it were possible, we love the guys more for making it available for FREE<333

Go on, pick a song, any song… (Burning Gold with Christina Perri is one of my favs)

What do you mean, mainstream bullshit?

Pretty much 95% of what gets played on the Radio and in bars/clubs. And It’s fucking bullshit. The other 5% you can account for the dying breed of my once beloved FM Radio</3

Yes, once upon a time Lil Jon and The Ying Yang Twins (isn’t it Yin & Yang? See what I mean, dumbing down.) were totally new and fresh.

Shit, I dropped it low, we all did.

But that was then. And this is 2016.

Why are our music tastes stuck on the playlists of better days [more like 15 years ago] past?

I think there is no easy answer to that question, if you can think of one please email us and share.

The point is, we are moving forward constantly.
In all areas of our lives in a million different ways, all the time.
We have never been more technologically advanced than we are today.

So why isn’t the music on TV and the Radio reflective of the times we are living in?
If I hear Montell Jordan – ‘This is How We Do It’ one more fucking time I swear…

I can’t relate to more than half of anything I hear from Drake (who seems to be the only current rapper people know anymore) and I sure can’t relate to #RiRi’s boss A$$ (queen)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not discrediting either of these artists I am an early fan of both. What I -am- saying however, is that old Kanye is the best Kanye.

What exactly is the message that the current top artists are conveying to the world? To your kids? If all generations are associated with the music that was popular at the time then count me out, because Kygo sucks.

I wish to be represented justly by the music I listen to and play around my friends and family.
I want to inspire my nephews to play drums and mess with keyboards and break genres.
I want my nieces to learn how to dance expressively to Odesza, not twerk to Nikki Minaj.

We are the food we eat, the water we drink, and the music we listen to.

(I think there might be something in the water)

Welcome to The New Taste

We are the self-proclaimed supertasters. The body shakers and the speaker breakers.

We are tired of mainstream bullshit dulling and dumming down the airwaves and minds of it’s listeners.

Music is a moral law.
It gives soul to the universe,
wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination,
and charm and gaiety to life
and to everything.

We support ART. It’s as simple as that.

This is A Collection of images and sounds of the past, present, and future, in no particular order.
